What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is also known as Cosmetic, or Facial Acupuncture. It is a safe and painless treatment that offers a natural alternative to Botox and surgical procedures. It is one of those rare targeted beauty treatments that also has direct benefits on general health and well-being.
Although relatively new to the Western world, Facial Acupuncture has been used for restorative purposes in China and Eastern countries since 10th century AD, carrying with it time-tested wisdom. The focus of these treatments is to create long term changes in the health of the skin, face and body.
How does it work?
The session begins with treating the whole body, this brings about a flow of energy which will support the work being done on your face. As a result of this holistic approach it is also possible to tackle anything you might bring to your session. Typically, this might include lack of energy, desire to reduce stress levels, poor sleep, hormone balancing, etc.
After working on your body, we move specifically to your face. Very fine needles, as thin as a strand of hair, are very carefully inserted into key areas and creases in your face.
The tiny punctures cause positive micro-trauma that stimulates the lymphatic and circulatory system, which work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells. In this way skin is nourished from the inside out. The positive micro-trauma also stimulates the production of collagen, which helps to improve elasticity, minimising fine lines and wrinkles.
Benefits of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
This treatment promotes subtle, natural looking changes to the skin over time. Benefits of facial rejuvenation acupuncture include: reduction of fine lines, softening of deep wrinkles, lifting and toning muscles on your face and neck, evening of skin tone and texture, reduction of under eye bags, better skin hydration, increased circulation and vitality. It can also help to eliminate and disperse unsuccessful cosmetic treatments, such as botox and fillers.
After experiencing a course of treatments many clients have noticed other health benefits such as reduction in stress levels, more energy, fewer headaches and better sleep and digestion.
How many treatments would I need?
Following your initial consultation and facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatment, I would normally recommend a personalised treatment plan to help you reach your skincare goals.
As a guide, to see optimum results, I recommend ten to twelve treatments, once or twice a week. After that, to maintain the results, I encourage follow up treatments every four to eight weeks.
Are There Any Risks?
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a chemical-free, natural approach to anti-aging, without the side effects, risks and downtime of more invasive cosmetic procedures. Most clients do not experience any complications. However, a small amount of bleeding, bruising or puffiness may occasionally occur.
Who is it for?
Great candidates for facial rejuvenation acupuncture are basically anyone (men and women) looking for a natural, alternative, approach to reducing the signs of ageing and who are also looking to improve their overall well-being.
This treatment is not recommended for pregnant women, those with epilepsy, haemophilia or those who have undergone other cosmetic procedures such as injections and surgical procedures in the past 2-6 weeks.
